CATERPILLAR C10 and C12 Essential Diesel Engine Bolt Tightening Torques

 

Caution: Bolt Torques and other data, may vary from serial number to serial number, please check the manuals.

CAT C10, C12 Main Bearing Cap Bolts
step 1 = 95Nm, 70 lb.ft
step 2 = + 90 degrees

CAT C10, C12 Connecting Rod Bolts
step 1 = 130 ± 7 Nm, 95 ± 5 lb.ft
step 2 = + 60 degrees


CAT C10, C12 Main Cylinder Head Bolts
(bolts 1 through bolt 26 in a numerical sequence)
step 1 = 160 Nm, 120 lb.ft
step 2 = repeat step 1
step 3 = + 90 degrees
step 4 = loosen all
step 5 = 160 ± 10 Nm, 120 lb.ft
step 6 = repeat step 5
step 7 = + 90 degrees

Minor Cylinder Head Bolts(bolts 27 through bolt 34 in a numerical sequence)
step 8 = 28 Nm, 20 lb.ft
